The 2022 Financial Times (FT) Book of the Year Award went to Chip War: The Fight for the World's Most Critical Technology (Chris Miller, S&S).
In Chip War, Miller dissects the extensive supply chains that make up the intricate web of makers and assemblers of semiconductors and considers the ramifications of our reliance on several enormous producers.
"The struggle for semiconductors and the hunt for supply chain resilience are among the major economic and commercial issues of our day and will be for much of the near future," judge and FT editor Roula Khalaf remarked.
It is among the most significant novels I've read this year, I think. It's captivating, full of interesting people, and full of unexpected turns. Every company executive and policymaker should read it.
First presented in 2005, the Business Book of the Year Award goes to the book that provides ‘the most compelling and enjoyable insight into modern business issues. The winner receives £30,000 (A$50k) and each of the remaining shortlisted books is awarded £10,000 (A$16,650).
This Is How They Tell Me the World Ends: The cyberweapons arms race (Nicole Perlroth, Bloomsbury) was the winner of last year’s Book of the Year Award.
